Played this via the Catalog. It's fantastic. This is my little micro review:

"Don't judge a book by its cover. Despite buying and trying about a million different Playdate games since I got my unit I'd never given EYELAND a look because, in my mind, it was 'just a little tech demo made in Pulp'.

Pulp is the online editor you can use to make simple games for Playdate with limited coding knowledge, and I'd say EYELAND has to be up there as one of the most effective uses of it. The tile based trappings are still there in its movement, but this little adventure has such soul by way of its writing, design, art direction and music, you soon forget its limitations and just sink totally into this cute little story. Borderline Kentucky Route Zero in places, this is a real achievement for the SDK and the Playdate. Loved it."

Good chance I bring this up on the O3C Games podcast next month - listen out!

THANK YOU! i really appreciate the review - I'm glad you liked it (there's a new one in the works, but i'm not sure when it'll be done - SCOPE CREEEEEP)

I finally took a moment to sit down and play Eyeland, and I'm so freaking happy that I did! What an amazing little game.

The graphics are wonderful, the music pleasing, and the puzzles really entertaining. I loved all the little characters you meet along your journey, and the little thought clouds are genius! Amazing work.

Incredible game. This is my first reason to love the playdate and wish more games were like this.

As a dev with 20ys experience I’m tempted to start building something for this little console. I really look forward to the sequel of your game, thank you for bringing here this tiny amazing experience!

YES! BUILD SOMETHING WONDERFUL! 😃 The Playdate community is a great little group. everyone is so helpful / encouraging. :)  Also thank you - I'm glad you liked playing eyeland.

Finally played Eyeland and loved it, thank you for making it! Wrote about it for my site~ https://www.playdateunofficial.com/the-games/eyeland

Really inspired my wife who is getting into Pulp right now. This was the first game that really made her understand what the Playdate can DO.

Thank you Game Llama, I'm glad you enjoyed it — and what a great write-up! I'm honored!

ALSO: good luck to your wife with her Pulp explorations. That's how I got into it, I just started playing around and 3 months later I had Eyeland!

Fun game with a very solid foundation. Excited for the sequel, would love to see a longer game with more puzzles and a larger world to explore.

then i think your gonna love E2 : longer game ✅ — more puzzles ✅ — larger world ✅

Any update about Eyeland 2?

No update - It's taking longer than expected.

Beautiful game – bought on catalog. Would it be possible to add a list-mode icon to the game please? It's a shame to have such a good game missing that polished touch on the latest firmware.

(+1)

thank you! glad you liked it - YES, the list icon on the TO DO list - but there are a few things ahead of it.

how do you add a list icon to a pulp game?

Wonderful game! It makes great use of the constraints of the platform. It’s clever, funny, odd, and well designed. I do hope the next Eyeland has a save or chapter system, though, so that I’m not worried about losing progress if I have to put my Playdate down.

Thank you! i'm glad you enjoyed it and YES,, Eyeland 2 will have an autosaving mechanism! :)

This game is stunning. When is the upcoming release?

thank you - i'm glad you liked it. E2 is in the works, but taking longer than i thought - i was really pushing to have it done before the end of this winter, but it looks like that won't be the case ... stay tuned! ;)

Fantastic game.  As others have said, you've nailed a special atmosphere, evocative, drawing the player in.  Bravo.

Thank you! thanks for playing!

Such an amazing game ! The athmosphere is bar none ! I especially love all the little touches, how much visual feedback the game gives to your actions. So, so cool! I am really hyped for the announcement of Eyeland 2 ! I'm hoping there will be some optional content in the second one to encourage replayability :D!

THANK YOU for these comments. i'm glad you liked E1 and and are excited for E2. it's been fun building it. MAKING a game is very much like PLAYING a game - lots to figure out. and thank you for the suggestion, i am working on a way to make the game a bit more non-linear.
